The Active Soccer Challenge

Download our free app now from Google Play and the Apple App Store.

The active soccer App has been developed for iPhone, iPad and Android and is packed full of great functions to engage young people and their families on a regular basis.  At the heart of the App is the "Active Soccer Challenge", which is a skills challenge providing young players the opportunity to practice key football skills in their own time and track their progress within the App.

Active Soccer coaches will run the Challenge as part of our:

  • Holiday Camps
  • After Schools Clubs
  • Skills Centres
  • Monday Night Girls' Soccer

The skill challenges are designed for boys and girls between the ages of 4 and 14.

The skills involved are:

  • Control (Keep ups)
  • Passing, Shooting
  • Dribbling
  • Throw-Ins

There is also a separate Active Soccer cross-bar challenge available to take part in.

To practice and take part in the active soccer challenge you will need enough space on a safe and suitable surface and a small amount of equipment.

The active soccer challenge scheme has three different levels:

  • Level 1 is for children aged 4 to 7. Note: Level 1 children should use size 3 footballs
  • Level 2 is for children aged 7 to 11. Note: Level 2 children should use size 4 footballs
  • Level 3 is for children aged 11 to 14. Note: Level 3 children should use size 4 footballs

There is a Bronze, Silver and Gold award at each level. Each level and each award involves performing the same five skills that become progressively more difficult.

Note:  The active soccer levels are based on the method used in UK schools to place children into year groups depending on their date of birth. This means a child in Reception, Years 1 or 2 will be Level 1, a child in Years 3, 4, 5, or 6 will be Level 2 and a child in Years 7, 8 or 9 will be Level 3.

Each of the skills can be practised by children on their own or with friends and/or family members. When attempting a challenge a responsible person should be present who will watch and record the score. If you fail to complete any of the skill challenges, don’t’ worry, keep practising and try again.
